Sean O’Malley Targets Merab Dvalishvili Again Despite 0-2 Record – “He’s The Only Person”
Sean O’Malley wants to face Merab Dvalishvili a third time but believes fans won’t be interested in seeing the trilogy fight.
Dvalishvili dethroned O’Malley in 2024 and then submitted him when they faced off again in 2025.

However, after suffering two losses to Dvalishvili, O’Malley has bounced back with two consecutive wins and hopes to fight for the title next. His most recent victory came at UFC Freedom 250, where he knocked out Aiemann Zahabi and then right away performed a salute celebration.

Dvalishvili, meanwhile, most recently at UFC 333, lost to current and two-time bantamweight champion Petr Yan in their trilogy bout and may need at least one more win before earning another title shot.
Sean O’Malley Game To Fight Merab Dvalishvili Again
During a recent sit-down with Bradley Martyn, “Suga” expressed interest in running it back with “The Machine.”
“I need to get that one back, but it’s like no one wants to f*cking see that right now. I do. He’s the only person I ever lost to. It’s the only loss I have on my record. I would love to get that back.”

Why Doesn’t Sean O’Malley vs. Merab Dvalishvili 3 Make Sense?
Merab Dvalishvili is a terrible stylistic matchup for a striker like Sean O’Malley. He could get taken down, ragdolled, and submitted again unless he can find the fight-ending shot
That being said, both previous fights were five-round title bouts, and Dvalishvili has the cardio to maintain his pace throughout. However, in a three-round fight, O’Malley may have a better chance of winning.
Currently, no one is interested in seeing Sean O’Malley vs. Merab Dvalishvili 3. However, that might change if “Suga” gets a title shot, dethrones Petr Yan, and then calls out “The Machine.”
