There is more potential bad news coming from Shavkat Rakhmonov’s camp. The undefeated 170-pounder, who has been on the sidelines for nearly two years due to back-to-back injuries, was expected to come back early next year.

However, multiple media outlets have reported earlier today that Rakhmonov is still dealing with knee complications after a second surgery (which happened earlier this year), and his potential octagon return has been pushed back to June 2027. The report reads:

“As it turns out, rehabilitation after the second surgery is difficult and hasn’t yet allowed him to begin a full training camp. Shavkat is currently training lightly once a day in the gym and boxing, but not wrestling. The best-case scenario is that his return date is June next year.”

Shavkat Rakhmonov Last Fought In 2024

“Nomad” last fought Ian Machado Garry in 2024 at UFC 310 after then-welterweight champion Belal Muhammad was forced to step out due to a bone infection. The Kazakh fighter comfortably defeated the Irishman by unanimous decision and took away the latter’s O.

As per Rakhmonov, he was dealing with a partial ACL tear and a meniscus injury even before the Garry bout. He wanted to avoid surgery, but when recovery did not go as planned, he was forced to go under the knife after the title eliminator.

After one successful surgery followed by recovery and rehabilitation, “Nomad” wanted to return this year. But he reinjured the same knee again and had to get surgery again.

After months of inactivity and being unable to give the UFC brass a potential return date, he was removed from the UFC welterweight rankings.

Today’s update states that Shavkat Rakhmonov has injured the same knee again, and his “knee cannot withstand strain.” If the 32-year-old does come back, it will be in the late second quarter or sometime in the third quarter of 2027.
