UFC on FX: Sotiropoulos vs. Pearson — Main Card Results & Commentary
Also known as the TUF: The Smashes Finale, UFC on FX: Sotiropoulos vs. Pearson took place on Australia’s Gold Coast and featured the season’s lightweight and welterweight finals.
Hector Lombard vs. Rousimar Palhares
Round 1: Lombard took the center of the cage and opened with kicks and punches. Palhares attacked the legs, but Lombard dropped him with a right hand and continued stalking. A big left put Palhares down again before a barrage against the fence ended the fight.
Result: Hector Lombard def. Rousimar Palhares via KO, Round 1 (3:38).
Colin Fletcher vs. Norman Parke
Round 1: Parke repeatedly brought Fletcher to the mat and controlled much of the grappling. Fletcher briefly reversed position late in the round and finished on top.
Round 2: Parke again found the takedown, advanced through dominant positions and mixed in heavy punches. Fletcher escaped several bad spots, but Parke closed the round with another takedown.
Round 3: Fletcher increased his striking output, but Parke continued landing the cleaner punches and scored two late takedowns.
Result: Norman Parke def. Colin Fletcher via unanimous decision to win The Smashes lightweight tournament.
Robert Whittaker vs. Bradley Scott
Round 1: Whittaker landed the sharper combinations and briefly dropped Scott, while Scott repeatedly looked to clinch against the fence.
Round 2: Scott found success with his grappling and took Whittaker’s back, but Whittaker escaped and the pair traded hard shots late.
Round 3: Whittaker’s punches and elbows carried the exchanges as the pace increased. Both men stayed active through the final horn.
Result: Robert Whittaker def. Bradley Scott via unanimous decision to win The Smashes welterweight tournament.
George Sotiropoulos vs. Ross Pearson
Round 1: Pearson hurt Sotiropoulos with his hands early. Sotiropoulos recovered enough to pursue takedowns and briefly take Pearson’s back before the horn.
Round 2: Sotiropoulos settled into his jab and kicks, but Pearson’s left hook dropped him and continued to be the decisive weapon.
Round 3: Pearson immediately dropped Sotiropoulos with a left hook, then finished the fight with another heavy combination.
Result: Ross Pearson def. George Sotiropoulos via TKO, Round 3 (0:41).
