UFC Saudi Arabia Boasts Stacked Card With Two Bangers At The Top
The UFC Saudi Arabia Card was made official this past weekend during the UFC Vegas 124 broadcast.
UFC Saudi Arabia takes place on Saturday, December 5. The main event features a middleweight clash between former two-time 185-pound champion Israel Adesanya and the surging Sharaputdin Magomedov.
Adesanya is currently on a four-fight losing streak. His most recent defeat came in March this year when the surging Joe Pyfer knocked him out. Izzy’s opponent, Magomedov, is, however, riding a two-fight win streak and boasts a 6-1 record in the UFC. “Bullet’s” sole loss came against Michael “Venom” Page last year.
It is important to note that this will be the Nigerian-born Kiwi’s first bout after parting with his longtime head coach, Eugene Bareman, and City Kickboxing. December 5, we will find out if the change helps “The Last Stylebender” turn the tables and snap the loosing skid.
Magomedov, meanwhile, will be looking to secure a finish or at least put on a clean performance at UFC Saudi Arabia, especially after his last fight against Michel Pereira was marred by controversy. “Bullet” poked his opponent in the eye and pulled his hair during the bout, but referee Herb Dean did not deduct any points for either foul.
UFC Saudi Arabia Co-Main Event
In the co-headliner, former 170-pound title challenger Ian Machado Garry, the No. 2-ranked welterweight contender, will lock horns with MMA veteran Yaroslav Amosov (30-1).
Garry’s last fight came at UFC 330, where he put on a solid performance against reigning champion Islam Makhachev but lacked the killer instinct and did not go for the finish, ultimately losing by unanimous decision. Although being at the top of the rankings and facing the No. 13-ranked fighter is unusual, fans know the short-notice risk-taker is willing to fight anyone and everyone and loves to stay active.
The Irishman’s opponent, Amosov, is 2-0 in the UFC and has secured submission victories in both of his octagon outings. Next month, finishing the No. 2 contender next could put him closer to a title shot in no time. The Garry vs. Amosov bout will be a 5-round fight.
